OUR MISSION
OTYD’s mission is to connect members to Christ by delivering the authentic message of salvation in English while adhering to the EOTC doctrine, cannon, and tradition. Through various services, we aim to bring young adults closer to the Church and ensure spiritual growth for devout Christians while providing an inclusive environment.
OUR VISION
OTYD’s vision is to build a generation of young Orthodox Tewahedo Christians who will uphold their faith in their communities and reflect Christ’s commandments in their everyday lives.
WHAT ARE WE ALL ABOUT?
We provide services in English such as our weekly Bible studies along with our bi-yearly statewide conferences which include sermons, spiritual hymns, and other various activities. We also look to provide a strong community by providing the opportunity to participate in our diverse groups that are tailored to each individual.
HOW WE STARTED
OUR FUTURE IS BRIGHT
OTYD started as a group of servants who were immersed in their church’s services. These servers noticed a significant number of their peers between the ages of 21 to 35 leaving the church and living a life that was going in the wrong direction. So they came together from different churches in the Dallas Metroplex to find the solution and build the foundation of an organization that will implement it. The most impactful step that was taken when OTYD was first founded, was breaking the language barrier and providing all English services. The eyes of the youth started to widen when they finally had a clear understanding of their faith and their curiosity of the Church heightened. That’s when they knew they started something groundbreaking.

Our Committee Structure
Spiritual Overseers
Ensuring the organization is operating according to the doctrine of the Orthodox Tewahedo Church
Oversight Team
Provides updates to Oversight members on respective teams’ activities
Education Team
Teach the theological, spiritual, and social aspects of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and provide theological resources
Finance Team
Determine OTYD’s financial requirements and implement various fundraising techniques.
Logistics Team
Provide logistical support for various events held by OTYD and provide necessary materials for different plans that the rest of the teams have.
Advertising/IT Team
Promote various OTYD events and activities using innovative technological methods.

Access/Accountability Team
Promote various OTYD events and activities using innovative technological methods.
Ensure all OTYD teams complete their respective set goals (roles and responsibilities).
Connections Team
Develop and coordinate various fellowship activities, centered on spiritual growth, to connect members and non-members.
